. Oakham The castle is famous for its collection of ceremonial horseshoes; since the late Middle Ages, every time a peer of the realm visits Oakham for the first time they are bound to present a horseshoe to the lord of the manor.
Melton Mowbray  is known for a culinary speciality, the Melton Mowbray pork pie, and as the location of one of six licensed makers of Stilton cheese. – hence its promotion as Britain’s “Rural Capital of Food”.

Rockingham Castle & Barnsdale Gardens The remarkable Rockingham Castle, built on the instruction of William the Conqueror, has been the Watson’s family’s home for 450 years. Prior to the Watson’s ownership the Castle was held by the crown. There are very few other homes that have been continuously occupied for nearly 1000 years and within that time been owned by just one family since being relinquished as a royal Castle. It is a particularly extraordinary aspect of Rockingham’s long and fascinating story. Barnsdale Gardens  created by Geoff Hamilton for BBC Gardeners’ World, Barnsdale Gardens, in Rutland, is Britain’s largest collection of individually designed gardens

Burghley House & Gardens. was built and mostly designed by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I, between 1555 and 1587, the main part of the House has 35 major rooms on the ground and first floors. Visitor facilities include the Orangery restaurant, gift shop, gardens and beautiful walks around the historic parkland laid out by Capability Brown and still occupied by a herd of fallow deer.

Visit to Rutland Water  is a reservoir in Rutland, England, east of the county town, Oakham. It is filled by pumping from the River Nene and River Welland and provides water to the East Midlands. It is one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe
